Our Why
Mother Oliver’s Place exists because one caring adult can change the course of a young person’s life.
Our founder, Toni Barnes, was once a young person in need. A woman in her neighborhood—known as Mother Oliver—opened her home and took her in during a critical time. That act of compassion and stability became a lifelong reminder that youth don’t just need encouragement—they need safety, consistency, and someone who won’t give up on them.
That is the “why” behind Mother Oliver’s Place: to provide youth in crisis with the stable foundation they deserve, so they can grow, heal, and move forward with confidence.

Our Vision
Mother Oliver’s Place envisions a community where every young person—especially youth ages 13–17 facing instability—has a safe place to live, consistent support, and the opportunity to thrive.
We see a future where youth are protected from crisis, surrounded by caring adults, and equipped with life skills, mentoring, and resources that prepare them for healthy, independent adulthood. Our vision also includes strong partnerships with schools, churches, agencies, and community supporters—so no young person has to navigate hardship alone.

With a background in social work and extensive experience in youth development, she ensures that our initiatives are effective and impactful.
